| Why donate to Aikido of San Antonio?
Dear Visitor, Often times, people ask why donate to AOSA and not to curing cancer or some other worthy cause? My answer is that this is a false choice. Donate to both! Donate to a large organization like St. Jude's and to a local organization like Aikido of San Antonio. You see, Aikido of San Antonio does not operate on a for profit model. Why not? A for profit business model is generally one in which you try to maximize profits. Therefore, as a for-profit business owner, you must look at what services should be offered in order to maximize those profits. Aikido is challenging and while it is for everyone, not everyone wants to do it. Some people want to study more aggressive martial arts, or study purely meditation. If we were running a for-profit business we might have to consider adding a yoga class, "watering" down the Aikido classes (give out rewards, belts, etc). In addition, we might start offering Carido-Kickboxing, and other martial arts. This is often what you see in many martial schools today. If we did this the result would be that Aikido of San Antonio changes from a place to develop the art, philosophy and science of Aikido into a type of health-club/gym, offering the latest martial-art craze to the general public. This is not who we are. Our goal is to simply offer serious, quality, Aikido training at a cost that most people can afford. Currently we rent our space. The cost to rent our space is about 90% of our operating budget and that's the cost that keeps rising every year. Over the next five to ten years, this will be unsustainable. However, you can help change that future picture. If you donate to Aikido of San Antonio or do searches with www.goodsearch.com, using Aikido of San Antonio as your designated charity, you'll be helping a local organization, Aikido of San Antonio, stay true to its ideals and pave the way for us to own a permanent location. This in-turn ensures that there will be quality Aikido in the San Antonio community for many years to come. If you'd like to use goodsearch go here. With most sincere thanks, K. S. Templer |
