Learn about our Funding Designations What is the General Use Fund? Contributing to the General Use Fund offers us the most flexibility. We may use your donation to help operating expenses, or we may use to help send Sensei to a seminar, fund other funds, like the Scholarship or Building Fund, etc. What is the Black Belt Fund? Typically, when a member tests for Shodan (1st Degree BlackBelt) they must do it at a seminar. This typically involves airfare, lodging, etc. In addition, they must pay a steeper test fee. The Black Belt Fund helps to offset some of that cost by helping the member pay for their test fee. This is a great way to support our senior members. What is the Building Fund? Money donated to this fund will be used to maintain our current facility or pay for costs when we must move or pay for costs when we will build or purchase our own space in the future. What is the Mat Fund? Over time, our mat will need to be repaired or replaced. In addition, we may decide to purchase tatami mats for a future location or our current location. Your contribution here earmarks the money for this project. What is the Scholarship Fund? When members run into hardship or have difficulty paying the full-membership price, we will work out arrangements to scholarship those individuals.
